Fresh reports from France suggest that Zinedine Zidane would prefer to take the reins at Manchester United rather than at Bayern Munich.
We’ve been aware for some time now that a vacancy in the dugout at the Allianz Arena will open up upon the culmination of the 2023/2024 season, regardless of how Thomas Tuchel fares with the German giants in their Champions League campaign.
As such, the hierarchy in Munich has been linked with countless managers as they look to bounce back from what’s been a disastrous term by Bayern’s standards, given that they couldn’t match Bayer Leverkusen’s resurgent Bundesliga form nor progress far in the DFB Pokal; they were knocked out by the cup by third-tier side Saarbrucken.
Both Bayern and Liverpool were planning to go head-to-head in pursuit of their former player Xabi Alonso before he committed his future to Leverkusen for another year, while Julian Nagelsmann opted to sign a contract extension with the German national team after being linked with a return to the club.
The latest speculation doing the rounds has seen Bayern land on three-time Champions League winner (in three successive seasons) Zidane. However, it’s thought that he is mulling over the job offer while keeping tabs on United’s affairs.

L’Equipe – cited by Get Football News France – claim that Zidane, 51, is ‘closely monitoring’ the situation at Old Trafford.
