When Barcelona brought Vitor Roque into the club last month, there was a lot of excitement generated. The 18-year-old arrived at a time when goals were not coming for the team and Robert Lewandowski was struggling for form.

But, Xavi did not thrust the Brazilian teenager into the spotlight right away. In fact, the lack of minutes for Roque in his first few weeks at Barcelona gave way to chatter about how the youngster was finding it hard to adapt at the club after moving from South America.

Despite there being questions, Xavi opted to continue with a cautious approach with Roque and the youngster waited for his chances with patience and made the most of it this week, scoring the match-winning goal for Barcelona against Osasuna.

Vitor Roque adapting very well

Now, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Vitor Roque’s adaptation at Barcelona is going very well, contrary to what had been reported in the past.

A fortnight ago he settled in the uptown area of the city with his parents, sister, and wife. At the Ciutat Esportiva he is being taught the Spanish language despite the similarities with the Portuguese.

Furthermore, Roque is understood to have connected well with his compatriot Raphinha, along with Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix, and even Ronald Araujo.

Veterans such as the first captain, Sergi Roberto, and Robert Lewandowski have also been involved in making him feel at home and, logically, the rest of the youngsters, due to their age, have connected with Roque.

From the dressing room, they say that he is a sponge, that he listens to and absorbs all of Xavi’s advice to improve his game wherever he needs to.

Roque could start vs Alaves

So far, Roque has made six appearances for Barcelona, clocking a little over 120 minutes, with one goal. It took him just a minute or so after coming on against Osasuna to score his goal, which won the match for his team.

The youngster is riding high on confidence and considering the number of injuries in attack, there is a very good chance that he could start for Barcelona tomorrow against Deportivo Alaves, the report states.
