A French striker in Barça’s sights

Here is a possible transfer that we did not necessarily expect: FC Barcelona is reportedly carefully studying the possibility of a French international.

If Barça won the case for Dani Olmo, it was different for the case of Nico Williams, the winger of the Roja and Bilbao who finally, due to the lack of an agreement with a Blaugrana institution in need of liquidity, will stay at least one more season at Athletic. A few days before the resumption of La Liga against Valencia, the Catalans are therefore digging other furrows.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, one of the leads thus explored would lead Barça to Kingsley Coman, the French international from Bayern who after nine years in Munich would like a change of scenery this summer. With the significant advantage for president Laporta of being able to land on loan.

The Flick Connection

Bayern will not, a priori, retain the former Parisian at any cost – especially since his salary of around 18 million euros per year weighs heavily. Especially for an attacking player who has missed nearly thirty matches over the last two seasons – due to spells in the infirmary.

Kingsley Coman to Barça, the connection would be all the simpler since the Catalans’ coach, Hans-Dieter Flick, has already worked with the Frenchman in Bavaria and greatly appreciates his profile. Under his orders, the interested party had also achieved two of his best years, in 2019-2020 (8 goals and 7 assists in 38 matches) and 2020-2021 (8 goals and 15 assists in 39 matches).
