A player without class? Erling Haaland humiliated

Erling Haaland has been branded a ‘classless player’ for his message to Myles Lewis-Skelly as things heated up between Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Norwegian forward, who scored his 100th goal for Manchester City in the first half, was heavily involved in the clashes between the two sides towards the end of Sunday’s English classic. Arsenal, reduced to 10 men after Leandro Trossard’s controversial red card, looked set to escape with all three points but John Stones’ dramatic 98th-minute equaliser secured a point for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Haaland collided with Thomas Partey after Arsenal kicked off following Stones’ goal, prompting a sea of red shirts around the forward. One of them was 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly, who got in Haaland’s face. The Manchester City star appeared to let Lewis-Skelly know exactly what he was thinking by asking: ” But who the hell are you?

A long-awaited reunion

English football fans then swarmed Haaland on X, criticising him for his condescension and “lack of class”: “This is why Haaland will never earn my respect” wrote @GoonerRaunak on X. @sanders8411 added: ” He’s a crybaby and he picked on a 17-year-old.” @aviv_lavi for his part called the City striker a “classless player”.

Lewis-Skelly’s frustrations with Haaland were likely fuelled by the striker’s smacking of the ball into the back of Gabriel’s head after Stones scored – an act that @Gunnersc0m described as “incredibly disrespectful”. We’re already counting down the days until the teams meet again on February 1; there’s no doubt Arsenal’s players will be desperate to get the better of Haaland after the forward’s antics on Sunday. Next up for City is a home clash with Watford in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, while Arsenal host Bolton in the same competition on Wednesday.
