A reward for Aubameyang

Even though Olympique de Marseille did not reach the final of the competition, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was voted player of the season in the Europa League.

It’s a small consolation prize for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Very disappointed after the elimination in the semi-final of the Europa League, the Olympique de Marseille striker was still voted best player in the competition.

Aubameyang finished top scorer in this Europa League with his 10 goals. In the scorers’ rankings, he is quite clearly ahead of Romelu Lukaku, author of 7 goals with AS Roma, then Joao Pedro (Brighton) and Gianluca Scamacca (Atalanta), authors each of 6 goals.

The best goal for Lookman

Atalanta’s top scorer in this victorious campaign, and notably decisive against Liverpool with his double at Anfield, Scamacca could also have claimed the title of best player. We can also think of his teammate Ademola Lookman, author of a resounding hat-trick in the final against Leverkusen.

Note that Aubameyang also appears twice in the top 10 for goals in the competition. The Gabonese is cited for his return against Ajax (4-3) in the group stage, and for his left lob from a tight angle against Villarreal (4-0). But it’s Lookman who takes the No. 1 spot.
