EXCLUSIVE: With MaXXXine bowing next week, A24 is already jumping back in the horror genre as sources tell deadline it has landed the package Mice with V/H/S architect David Bruckner directing. Todd Spence and Zak White penned the script and the spec marks their first sale to a major studio, quite the sale for first time scribes.

Not much is known plot wise of the film other then it being the horror thriller genre. A24 will finance and produce.

A24 had no comment.

While the studio has made a name for itself for its prestige dramas that have taken home a ton of Oscars over the years, A24 has shown a knack for spotting a good horror script when they see one. Some of their recent horror hits over the years include Ari Aster’s breakthrough film Hereditary, the Sundance pic Talk To Me, which is currently in prep on a sequel and Ti West’s X trilogy, which concludes next weekend with the premiere of MaXXXine.

As for Bruckner, the director made a name for himself with the cult anthology horror series V/H/S, which recently released its third film in the series, V/H/S 85. He has since directed a number of horror pics that include The Ritual, The Night House and the reboot of the horror classic Hellraiser.

This marks Spence and White’s first major sale, which is quite the deal for a writing duo to land their first script at a major studio.

Bruckner, Spence and White are repped at WME and Grandview. Bruckner is also repped by Johnson Shapiro Slewett and Kole and Spence and White are repped by Yorn Levine.
