Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Saturday, hailed the invaluable contributions and sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces towards defending the nation, saying that his government would always be there to appreciate their sacrificial roles to keep the nation safe.
Abiodun equally lauded the Fleet Commander of the Eastern Fleet of the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga, describing him as a very gallant, responsible and diligent Naval officer who has continued to make the state proud with his meteoric rise and sterling achievements in the Navy.
The governor, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, disclosed this during the civic reception organised by the Ijebu Ife Community in Ijebu East Local Government Area of the state to celebrate the birthday and recent promotion of Oguntuga to a Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy.
The civic reception, held at the Palace of the Ajalorun of Ijebu Ife, Oba Adesesan Oguntayo, was graced by the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Olaoye Ghandi, former Minister of Health, Dr Olorunimbe Mamora, the Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, Chief Bisi Akande, former governor of Osun State among other dignitaries and royal fathers.
Abiodun said, “In Ogun State, we recognise the invaluable sacrifices of our armed forces in securing our lives, our properties and the nation’s territorial integrity.
“Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga has been part of those who have made the country safer and stable for us all. And as a government, we shall continue to support our Armed Forces to further succeed in their constitutionally given roles.”
The governor hailed the community for organising the civic reception saying that achieving the rank of Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy is no small feat as it reflects years of leadership and impeccable impeccable services to the nation.
Abiodun said, “This civic reception is a celebration of professionalism, service and commitment to duty. It is a moment of pride for Ijebu Ife, Ogun State and the nation at large.
“The selfless service of Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga in the Nigerian Navy has been defined by excellence coupled with rigorous training that has prepared him for his new enviable heights and future tasks
“We trust that Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga will continue to inspire others, uphold the highest standard of leadership and contribute more to the progress of the Nigerian Navy.”
Abiodun further stated that Oguntuga’s achievement should serve as motivation and inspiration to those coming behind, for with determination and commitment to excellence there is no limit to what can be achieved
The Ajalorun of Ijebu Ife, Oguntayo, said that the gathering was not just to recognise personal success but to celebrate the excellence, hard work, and dedication that has placed one of the illustrious sons of the community among the finest officers in the nation’s service.
Oguntayo noted that Oguntuga has brought great honour to Ijebu-Ife, Ogun State and the nation at large, urging him to keep flying higher the banner of selfless service and greater dedication in his new role as Rear Admiral in the nation.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla represented by Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira, described Oguntuga as a highly humble, dependable and diligent officer who is doing so much to help the navy achieve its constitutional goals.
Ogalla urged him to remain such a fine officer and keep doing what he knew how to do best to move the nation’s navy forward.
The celebrant, Oguntuga in his remark said that the journey has been tough and rough but the Almighty God coupled with the support of the Nigerian Navy has made the challenges surmountable.
He appreciated President Bola Tinubu as well as the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla for approving his recent elevation to the rank of Rear Admiral, a two-star General.
