Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart has heaped praise onto underrated defender Marc Guehi for stepping in and putting in an outstanding display for Gareth Southgate’s side in the win over Serbia last night.

Guehi has long been a solid and reliable performer for Crystal Palace, but he’s not really one of the bigger, more proven names in this England squad, which has perhaps led to some people questioning him a little unfairly, according to Hart.

Still, we know Guehi is a top talent and that he could be one to watch on the transfer market soon as Manchester United have been linked with an interest in the 23-year-old by Dean Jones of Give Me Sport.

The Red Devils could do with strengthening with some young defenders coming in this summer, and it seems increasingly clear that Guehi could be just the kind of player they’re looking for.

Guehi transfer: Will he get another shot at a big six club?

Guehi started his career in Chelsea’s academy and he’s done superbly to pick himself up since failing to make the grade at Stamford Bridge.

One imagines the England international will surely now get another shot at playing for a top side, and Man Utd seem to be one of the main names to watch if previous reports are accurate.

Marc Guehi in action for England

Palace won’t want to lose an important player like Guehi, but at the same time, a good tournament for England this summer will surely see his asking price shoot up, which could mean the Eagles get serious money for the player.

Most fans would rather have great players than money for their club to spend, but at the same time, we’ve often seen international tournaments inflate a player’s valuation, so it could do a lot of good for the London outfit and help them invest in other areas of their squad.
