AC Milan management is frustrated at not having been able to get their hands on a French full-back during the winter transfer window.

AC Milan sought to sign Aston Villa full-back Clement Lenglet during the January transfer window. The French player who is loaned to the Villans by Barcelona was even Stefano Pioli’s priority. The transfer did not take place, to the great dismay of the Rossonerri.

He was Milan’s priority

Gianluca di Marzio, Sky Italiarevealed that “Lenglet has always been one of the main options. He even spoke with (coach Stefano) Pioli and (sporting director Geoffrey) Moncada and was open to the idea of joining the Rossoneri.”

“When Milan had the opportunity to sign him, he started playing regularly for Aston Villa, and so he was not allowed to leave,” Di Marzio added.

Note that Lenglet’s loan ends at the end of the season. And it will also be the end of his contract with the Blaugrana. He will then be free to engage with the training of his choice. Milan will perhaps then return to the charge.
