Ace Austin wants to become the youngest TNA World Champion in history.
The TNA star recently spoke to Denise Salcedo about his goals in TNA. He wants another run at tag team championships in ABC, before eventually moving on to the World Championship.
“My priorities right now, my focus still remains on the tag team, with the ABC. We definitely have a rematch that we still have in the pocket, from losing the titles before. So, the way I see it, 3 time X-Division Champion. We got one more tag title run in us at least. I’m gonna make that three and three, and then – right place, right time. When the right time comes, I will be in the right place, and when that happens it’s gonna be huge.”
“I had such a huge goal back in 2019/20 to become the youngest Impact Wrestling World Champion of all time. I got so close, so I really can’t let that one get away from me. I looked up to guys like Jeff Hardy when I first started. Guys that didn’t fit the mould. They did it on their own merit. They became legends based on who they were, and thats kind of what it means to me.”
Ace Austin Didn’t Let His Size Affect His Wrestling Career
Ace Austin continued. He revealed that he was a small kid, and used that as motivation to make his personality as big as possible. This helped him in his wrestling career. His move into bodybuilding dispelled any thoughts that he was too small to be a wrestler.
“I didn’t hit my growth spurt until my Junior year of high school, so all the way up until 10th grade, I was a short kid, so I tried so hard to let my personality be bigger than that, so that people didn’t look at me that way. I think I always did a pretty good job. I didn’t get bullied or anything for my size, but I was always a shorter kid. So I really worked hard to overcome any perceptions people had of me because of my size.”
“The idea of becoming a pro-wrestler as a kid, I knew that was a challenge I was gonna have to overcome. I knew that one day I would have to overcome the way that people looked at me, so I practiced that growing up, and then I was able to enter the wrestling world at 17 years old. I started training, and I was able to come in and do everything the right way, and I was able to build such a body that people can’t deny. I put so much work into literally bodybuilding so that nobody can look at me and say I’m too small to be a world champion. Because it’s just not true.”
