Mariah May will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming.

On the November 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, the broadcast team announced that May would defend her title against Mina Shirakawa at the “Winter is Coming” special on December 14. May attacked Shirakawa during an interview on Wednesday night.

May and Shirakawa had a Champagne Celebration at AEW Full Gear. There, May was about to turn on Shirakawa, but Mina had it scouted, and she left May laid out.

Tony Khan On Mina Shirakawa

At the AEW Full Gear media call, Tony Khan said that he expected to see Shirakawa in AEW more going forward.

“I am optimistic to keep Mina with us a lot. Mina Shirakawa fits in really well in AEW. And she has been a great great part of the show. We like to have her here as much as possible. So, coming up after Full Gear, I’m optimistic Mina Shirakava can join us more frequently. And we will see what that can be as far as her schedule with AEW and STARDOM simultaneously. We have a great relationship with STARDOM now. Love working with STARDOM and Mr. Okada and the great Bushido executives.

“Mina Shirakawa is a great star for STARDOM and also now a great star for AEW here in America and all over the world. So, I’m glad you asked because I feel that Mina Shirakawa adds a lot to AEW and I would like her to stay indefinitely, more regularly. And be with us more frequently. So thankfully, STARDOM is open to that and they’ve been very kind about opening their schedule up to us. So, I expect to see Mina Shirakawa a lot in AEW going forward,” Khan said.
