Powerhouse Hobbs will challenge for the gold at AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage.
The January 8th episode of AEW Dynamite featured a Casino Gauntlet Match, and the winner would challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage on January 15th.
Hangman Page and Jay White started the match. Wheeler Yuta was the third entrant. Swerve Strickland’s music played, but Ricochet came out instead. Ricochet took control with some high-flying offense. The four competitors went back and forth, and they were joined by Adam Cole. Cole gained the upper hand. TNT Champion Daniel Garcia was the next entrant. He and Wheeler Yuta battled it out. Powerhouse Hobbs entered the match and overpowered his opponents.
Roderick Strong joined the match and dished out some backbreakers. Yuta kicked White below the belt when he went for the Bladerunner. Lance Archer entered the match and dished out some punishment. He took control, and he clashed with Hobbs. Kyle O’Reilly joined the match and took the fight to Archer. Cole, O’Reilly, and Strong worked together to take control of the action.
Jeff Jarrett was the next entrant, but Wheeler Yuta attacked him from behind. They brawled up the ramp, and they went backstage. Hobbs took control again, and he pinned Kyle O’Reilly for the win.
Renee Paquette interviewed Hobbs after the match, and he looked forward to facing Moxley. He noted that Moxley brought him to AEW, but he vowed to make Moxley his bitch.
