Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 16 election, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has assured traditional institutions in the state of continuous support if elected.

The governor stated this on Tuesday at the palace of Owa Ogbagi Akoko, in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of the state, while canvassing for the support of traditional rulers in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Aiyedatiwa was in the local government area, as part of the electioneering for the November 16 election.

The governor said he had always warned against traditional rulers expanding territories which often lead to communal crises.

He noted that Akoko North-West had the highest numbers of traditional rulers in the state, as he appreciated their efforts, prayers and support for him during the APC primary that produced him as candidate.

“I will look into the issue of those trespassing and parading themselves as Oba.

“I know the value of traditional rulers, that’s why there is peace in the state, and you can attest to it now that they are enjoying more under this administration.

“We don’t select oba for communities, they just have to follow the procedure and we give instruments of office,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa, while responding to some of the requests of the traditional rulers, assured them that the 2025 budget would take care of the majority of their yearnings.

Earlier, the Owa of Ogbagi Akoko, Oba Olasehinde Adetona, assured the governor of victory and urged him to attend to the roads in the local government after the election.

Adetona asked the governor to resolve the chieftaincy issues which were the bane of development in the area.
