Alexis Mac Allister insists he is ‘very happy’ at Liverpool after being linked with a move to Real Madrid and has revealed that Jurgen Klopp advised him to remain at Anfield.

The 25-year-old impressed in his debut season at Liverpool following his move from Brighton last summer in a £55 million deal.

Reports in Argentina have claimed that Real Madrid are considering a move for the Liverpool midfielder in the summer transfer window.

However, Mac Allister has made it clear that he will not be pushing for a move away from Arne Slot’s side.

When asked for his view on the transfer link with Madrid, Mac Allister told TyC Sports: ‘Obviously with pride.

‘As you say they are one of the biggest clubs in the world and one that I respect a lot but I said it the other day, I don’t like to talk about rumours.

‘Obviously, yes, if there is something that is real and they sit down and talk to Liverpool, I’ll talk about whatever.

‘But in the meantime I have a lot of respect for Liverpool. I’m very happy at Liverpool and I think that it shouldn’t give rise to those speculations.’

Mac Allister also revealed that Klopp is keen to see him remain at Liverpool.

‘Klopp told me that I’m in the right club to grow,’ Mac Allister said.

‘When he left, he gave me a hug and said it was a pity to share so little time together. I am happy and very comfortable at Liverpool.’
