Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer is telling a Sean “Diddy” Combs story. Back when Ana was in the cast, the disgraced entertainer acted as a musical guest for the May 9, 1998 episode and demanded he have “a totally closed set” while he rehearsed. Keep reading to find out more… Ana said, while appearing on Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ “Las Culturistas” podcast, “You can tell the five as-holes in the six years that I was there when they would be like, ‘So-and-so is in the building. Everybody stay in your dressing rooms!’ Which is applicable if you’re a presidential candidate, but apart from that, it’s really my house.” A few writers noted Combs‘ request and instead, suggested: “Wouldn’t it be so funny if Ron just went in?” The “Ron” the writers were referring to is Will Ferrell, who was in costume as his character “Ron” from the “Mango” sketches. Will was game to interrupt, so he went right on set as Combs was rehearsing. Ana recalled, “He went on down the stairs and he marched right in. I have the video from the control room where Sean Combs is like, rapping…behind him, Ron’s like walking around looking really disoriented.” Combs was rehearsing the song “Come With Me,” which features samples from the Led Zeppelin song “Kashmir.” “It is the greatest thing that’s ever happened because what a deserved person to have their ‘Kashmir’ moment interrupted by Ron. And he really did not roll with it. He was very uncomfortable. But it was also just like, the artifice of all that faux importance. Like, what’s going to happen?” Ana added. Combs is expected to go to trial in May 2025. He has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
