Barcelona’s decision to fire Xavi Hernandez could have serious implications for the club in the coming summer.
The future of several first-team stars remains under doubt. But aside from the players, it appears Barcelona could be poised to lose yet another coach.
Rafa Marquez considering his exit
According to Mundo Deportivo, Rafa Marquez is considering leaving Barcelona when his contract comes to an end on June 30.
The Mexican tactician, who is currently heading Barça Athletic, was one of the leading candidates to replace Xavi at Barcelona.
Marquez, after all, was coming on the back of unprecedented success with Barça Athletic. He was instrumental in developing multiple La Masia talents while his reserve side is currently in contention for a promotion to the second division.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is keen on convincing Marquez to sign a new contract extension. But the club’s decision to hire Hansi Flick as Xavi’s replacement has not been received well by the Mexican.
Given his contributions at Barça Athletic, Marquez appears to have realised that he may receive interesting offers from European clubs this summer.
The report adds that the coming few weeks could be crucial, as far as Marquez’s future is concerned.
In the meantime, though, the Mexican will be focusing on Barça Athletic’s final league game against Celta Fortuna. Securing three points could be enough for the reserve team to gain promotion to the second division, which will be quite the feat.
