APC clears Yobe LG election

Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government election held at the weekend in Yobe State have been declared winners of all the chairmanship and councillorship seats.

The chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOIEC), Dr Mamman Muhammad, made the announcement at the commission’s headquarters in Damaturu on Saturday.

He said the APC won all the 17 local government chairmanship seats and the 178 councillorship seats in the state.

Dr Mamman Muhammad commended the electorate for ensuring that the poll was free and peaceful.

“The APC has won all the 17 chairmanship and 178 councillorship in the local government elections.

“In Damaturu Local Government, Bukar Adamu of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the majority of valid votes cast at the election, is hereby returned as duly elected,” he declared.

He added that the commission had received, considered, validated and adopted the results of each of the 178 councillorship of the wards.
