Arsenal are interested in signing the Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana from Everton during the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, the Gunners are strongly interested in the Belgian and they will compete with Tottenham Hotspur for the player.

Both North London clubs are keen on signing the midfielder who will cost €60 million (£51m) this summer. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to pay that kind of money for him.

Onana has been a reliable performer in the Premier League for Everton and he could prove to be a long-term asset for Tottenham and Arsenal.

Arsenal need to bring in a quality long-term replacement for Thomas Partey and Onana certainly fits the profile. He will help shield the back four and break up opposition attacks. He could form a solid partnership with Declan Rice at the heart of the Arsenal midfield as well.

Tottenham need someone like Amadou Onana

Meanwhile, Tottenham need to find the quality replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who is expected to leave the club this summer stop seems like a quality option. Tottenham currently have just one specialist defensive midfielder at their disposal and they need more depth in that area. Signing Onana would be ideal for them.

The reported €60 million asking price could be a problem for Tottenham though. They will have to improve the other areas of their squad and they might not be able to spend a substantial amount of money on Onana.

It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can convince Everton to accept a more reasonable fee for the player. Meanwhile, the Belgian will be hoping hoping to take the next step in his career and the opportunity to join clubs like Arsenal and Spurs will be quite exciting for him.
