Nico Williams is the new number 10 of Athletic Bilbao. The Basque club is doing everything in its power to retain the 22-year-old winger and the latest idea is to offer him the mythical number 10, vacant after the departure of Muniain. Often given to the attacking star of a team, this number is not without meaning in football and this attribution clearly sends a message. In Bilbao, the new boss is called Nico Williams. “I am proud to get the number 10, after Muniain. I hope to make history like he did.”said the Spaniard.

To make this change official, Athletic published a video on its social networks where we can see Nico Williams offering his old number, 11, to the new recruit Alvaro Djalo, before himself flocking the 10 on his own jersey. Author of an impressive Euro with Spain, the little brother of Iñaki, could therefore finally decide to stay in his club of always, adorned with the number 10 on the back, despite the interest still as pronounced as ever of Barça.
