Atlético Madrid have big ambitions this summer. After recruiting Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sorloth for just over 30 million euros each, the Madrid team were preparing to make official Conor Gallagher and the big transfer of the summer, Julian Alvarez, for 95 million euros including bonuses. Both men are already present in Madrid.
However, things got complicated during the night. Indeed, for Atlético to be able to make their next two summer signings official, they had to sell Samu Omorodion. Everything seemed to be done with Chelsea for a transfer of 40 million euros. But the operation fell through as indicated by a lot of Spanish media. Several versions are given to explain this failure, such as a disagreement on tiny details between the two clubs or a change of mind from the Blues management at the last moment.
Farewell Julian Alvarez?
This therefore inevitably paralyzes the final signings of Gallagher and Julian Alvarez, since Atlético de Madrid were counting on the sale of their young striker to conclude the transfers of the Englishman and the Argentinian. At the time of writing, the Rojiblancos must give up on these players. Is this the end of this nice transfer window for the Colchoneros? Not necessarily, since we also learn, in AS for example, that Chelsea finally turns to… João Félix.
The Blues could finally fall back on the Portuguese, unwanted in Madrid, which would therefore allow Atlético to conclude the two operations mentioned above. An arrangement between the two clubs that should make all parties involved happy. Some point out that it is even a possible masterclass by Atlético who would get rid of an unwanted player while keeping their nugget Omorodion. To be continued…
