Disney+ Hotstar drops the most awaited and entertaining trailer of the year with its twin drama series, Hotstar Specials’ Bad Cop. Produced by Fremantle India, directed by Aditya Datt and written by Rensil D’Silva the series is a complete mass entertainer and is set to stream exclusively on the platform, from 21st June 2024 onwards.
Versatile actor Gulshan Devaiah seamlessly steps into the double role of twins Karan and Arjun in the new web series ‘Bad Cop’. Karan is a dynamic cop, while Arjun is a clever thief, each following their own path. Their fates become unexpectedly intertwined, dramatically altering the course of their lives. Anurag Kashyap plays Kazbe Mama, a manipulative and lethal antagonist, leaving viewers wanting more. Harleen Sethi stars as Devika, a righteous cop, with Saurabh Sachdeva and Aishwarya Sushmita also taking on significant roles in this thriller.
The series explores the dramatic turn of events when destiny and fate collide, impacting Karan and Arjun’s lives forever. Aradhana Bhola, Managing Director of Fremantle India, expressed excitement about launching their first drama web series, ‘Bad Cop’, in collaboration with Disney+ Hotstar. She praised the team, including writer Rensil D’Silva and director Aditya Datt, for bringing the intriguing twin drama to life. Bhola noted, “Rensil gave us a stellar Indian re-imagination of the original story, the super talented leading cast including Gulshan, Harleen, Anurag & Saurabh brought their individual magic to the characters while pushing their boundaries as only fine actors can do & Aditya brought it all to life through his razor-sharp commercial & action lens. We hope the audiences love this as much as we have loved putting it all together.”

Director Aditya Datt described ‘Bad Cop’ as a captivating story with a compelling villain and a hero in a double role. He highlighted his passion for twin dramas and the effort to create original action and chase sequences. Datt emphasised the realistic performances brought by the talented cast, including Anurag, Gulshan, Harleen, and Saurabh, stating, “We have designed the action and chase sequences from scratch and have hoped to provide the audiences a larger-than-life viewing experience. Audiences are in for a treat and I hope they enjoy this one.”
Anurag Kashyap, discussing his role as Kazbe Mama, described the character as charismatic and lethal. He admitted feeling scared and sceptical while shooting the intense scenes. Drawing inspiration from iconic villains portrayed by Nana Patekar and Irrfan Khan, Kashyap found the role cathartic and hoped audiences would appreciate his performance, saying, “Kazbe is powerful, hard-hitting and I drew traits from many of the negative characters that I had created, to prepare for this role. It’s cathartic for me to play a negative character and I take it all out of my system. I hope audiences enjoy me in this avatar.”

Gulshan Devaiah expressed his enthusiasm for playing the twin characters Karan and Arjun, highlighting the challenge of portraying their distinct personalities. He shared, “Karan and Arjun although twin brothers have a very different outlook towards life and are dealing with very different interpersonal problems. I think playing the twins in Bad Cop has been the most amazing time I’ve had in my career until now and I really hope the masses find it fun too.”
Harleen Sethi, who plays Devika, initially had reservations about the role but grew to appreciate it during filming. Sethi enjoyed working with the talented cast and director Aditya Datt, as well as performing action sequences. She said, “Devika is everything a woman would want to be; she is powerful, fierce, witty, resilient. I thoroughly enjoyed being directed by Aditya Datt sir and working alongside Gulshan Devaiah, Anurag Kashyap and Saurabh Sachdeva. It was great collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India.”
