As Barcelona continue their search for a new manager to take over from Xavi Hernandez at the end of the season, names like Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel, and Roberto De Zerbi have been doing the rounds as potential candidates.

Jurgen Klopp has also been in discussion but the German has his heart set on a sabbatical year, and there is little chance of convincing him to change that.

Now, though, it appears that another name has been potentially added to the managerial shortlist that Barcelona are compiling.

Simone Inzaghi on the agenda

As per Tuttosport in Italy, Barcelona have their sights set on Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi as an option to succeed Xavi at the end of the season.

Inzaghi, 47, has become one of the most sought-after coaches in Europe after the solid job he has done with Inter in the past few seasons.

Since taking over the reins in 2021, Inzaghi has led the Nerazzurri to two Coppa Italia and three Italian Super Cup triumphs, while he also masterminded a Champions League final run during the last season.

The style of play of his team, especially in the current season, and his ability to get the best out of players, young and old, have seemingly made him a coveted target, with Barcelona also casting their eyes on him.

Premier League interested as well

Apart from Barcelona, Inzaghi is also attracting serious interest from the Premier League, where as many as three clubs are keen.

As per the report, both Chelsea and Manchester United admire the 47-year-old Italian and have even made enquiries for him. Meanwhile, Liverpool also have him on their agenda as a candidate to succeed Klopp.

Inzaghi’s current contract with Inter Milan expires in the summer of 2025 and his future is now open. Whether any of the aforementioned clubs, including Barcelona, make him a serious target remains to be seen.
