As reported earlier today, FC Barcelona had scouts present in Brazil to watch Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian at the Copinha tournament over the past few weeks.

The 16-year-old sensation is widely regarded as the next biggest thing coming through in Brazil and a transfer to a European club is not far away, with top teams across the continent wanting him.

Barcelona administration give the green light

Mundo Deportivo is now reporting that Barcelona have given the green light to make a move for Estevao.

The Blaugrana are mired in financial difficulties which makes it impossible for the club to meet his €60 million release clause.

Matters are only made further complicated by the fact that he is also on the radars of several other heavy-hitters in Europe.

Indeed, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, and PSG are all eyeing Estevao’s signing.

In fact reports earlier this month suggested that Chelsea would be best placed to sign him as they are willing to meet his €60 million release clause.

However, Estevao and his entourage continue to hold out for a transfer to Barcelona which gives the Catalans an edge in the race.

But until the financial situation is sorted, signing Estevao would be a complicated operation for the La Liga champions.
