Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed last month that the club are not happy with the offering of Nike and are ready to terminate the contract with the American apparel giants.
The decision, though, left Barça in a precarious position in the context of their kit sponsor.
Although Puma are ready to offer Barcelona a fortune, their offer has come quite late into the season and there is no possible way the German giants can make kits for the club next season.
Barcelona and Nike to continue next season
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona and Nike are set to continue their partnership in the coming season while being involved in a potential legal battle over their contract.
According to Memorabilia 1899, a renowned source for everything related to Barcelona kits, the club have already placed orders for home and away jerseys for next season.
These jerseys will be produced by Nike. In fact, the design of Barcelona’s kits for next season has already been leaked, with the away kit set to have a black colour scheme.
The black shade will be complemented by a receding Blaugrana over both the logo and the Nike ‘Swoosh’.
Kits to be made in Thailand
One special arrangement that will be made for Barcelona’s kits next season is that all the jerseys will be produced in Thailand.
Even the third kit is set to be produced in Thailand, in what can be described as a pivot from Nike, though not necessarily linked to their ongoing tension with Barcelona.
Earlier, the Barça kits were made in the Indonesia factory. But from next season onwards, those kits will be made in Thailand – a decision that was potentially made keeping the geopolitical situation in mind.
