Last night, reports emerged claiming that there may be a possibility that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid could enter into an operation involving veteran striker Robert Lewandowski in the summer.

Now, Ruben Uria, who broke the aforementioned news, has come forward with more details regarding the potential deal that the two clubs could engineer, stating that a certain Joao Felix could also be involved, along with Lewandowski.

A swap deal on the cards?

Discussing the possibility of the operation on TV3, Ruben Uria reported that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid could enter into an agreement where Lewandowski and Joao Felix end up swapping clubs.

It is no secret that Barcelona want to keep Joao Felix, currently on loan from Atletico Madrid, beyond the ongoing season, but are in no position to meet the Rojiblancos’ asking price for a permanent transfer.

As such, another loan deal is being considered, but there appear to be some disagreements over the structure of the deal and the insertion of a buy option, as Barça want to acquire him without any conditions.

Ruben Uria reports that Atletico could be willing to let Joao Felix join Barcelona if the Catalans agree to pay his amortisation costs – something that the Catalans do not want to do either.

That is where Lewandowski could enter the picture as there may be a possibility of Atletico Madrid signing him for a small fee, like they did with Luis Suarez in 2020. The Colchoneros could then reduce their demands for Joao Felix.

At the moment, it is all speculative and there is nothing concrete. So, it must be taken with a grain of salt.

Lewandowski has repeatedly stated that he is happy at Barcelona and is not considering leaving the club anytime soon.
