With only a day remaining before Barcelona take on Real Madrid in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, a reception was held in Jeddah.
The big news of the event was that Joan Laporta was set to meet Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in a customary meetup. But that got cancelled as Perez arrived late.
Laporta, nonetheless, was at the centre of attention, in the wake of his celebration over CSD’s decision that caught quite a lot of commotion within the Spanish football federation.
In fact, reports earlier in the week suggested that RFEF was considering taking disciplinary action against Laporta for the way he celebrated CSD’s verdict.
No action against Laporta
However, a fresh update from journalist Alfredo Martinez suggests there was a conciliatory tone at the Spanish football federation during the reception of the Super Cup final.
Martinez even claims that RFEF has ruled out the option of taking any disciplinary action against Laporta for the way he celebrated.

Many Spanish clubs have already put out statements, openly criticising CSD’s decision to grant precautionary measures to Barcelona, effectively allowing the club to register both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
These clubs are calling it an injustice, although Laporta himself has recently opened up on the saga. He notably called out the regulatory bodies for doing injustice against Barça in the first place.
Nevertheless, Laporta’s focus now will firmly be on the upcoming Super Cup final against Real Madrid, where Barcelona will be seeking their first title under the leadership of new coach Hansi Flick.
