Barcelona are keeping their eyes out for promising young talents coming through the scenes within Europe and outside.
Names like Lucas Bergvall, Estevao Willian, and Guillherme Ruck are among the teenage whizkids that the reigning La Liga champions are closely monitoring.
In fact, the Blaugrana are already working to sign Bergvall from Djurgardens in Sweden for the summer transfer window.
It now appears that another teenage midfield talent has caught the attention of Deco and his recruitment team at Barça.
Boris Lum on Barcelona’s radar
Indeed, as per German publication BILD, Barcelona are interested in Hertha Berlin midfield prodigy Boris “Bobo” Mamuzah Lum.
Just 16 years old, Boris Lum is held in very high regard at Hertha. The teenage defensive midfielder is currently part of the German club’s Under-17 side, for whom he has made 32 appearances while he has also played once for the Under-19 team.
However, the young midfield whizkid is yet to make his senior debut. Despite that first-team manager Pal Dardai rates him highly.
“I haven’t seen a centre midfielder like him at Hertha for a long time. He’s one of the greatest talents of recent years. It’s a pleasure to watch him play. He’s a born footballer,” Dardai said of Lum not so long ago.
No shortage of suitors
The teenager’s talents have caught the attention of Barcelona, who are in the market for defensive midfielders for the present and the future.
However, Barça are not the only club eyeing Boris Lum as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen from the Bundesliga are also keen.
In addition, RB Salzburg and AFC Ajax are also keen and have already made contact for the teenager while Premier League side Tottenham are also keen.
Boris Lum signed his first professional contract with Hertha last summer which runs until 2026 and comes with a €5 million release clause. It will be interesting to see if any of the teams decide to pay that amount for a 16-year-old talent.
