Barcelona are set to take on local rivals Girona on Sunday, as the club look to maintain their 100% winning record in La Liga.

However, after a gruelling international break, Flick will have to re-calibre his unit. To that end, the German tactician faces multiple selection dilemmas heading into the Girona clash this weekend.

Two key selection dilemmas for Barcelona

Marc Casado vs Eric Garcia

One of the big questions heading into the Girona game will be the defensive midfield position and whether or not Marc Casado will retain his place in the team.

The youngster was chosen as the replacement for Marc Bernal following his injury. He did not disappoint either, producing a calm and composed display in Barcelona’s win over Real Valladolid.

However, Girona could prove to be a much tougher opposition. Furthermore, with the UEFA Champions League opener against AS Monaco also coming up in a few days, Flick could opt to keep Casado fresh. That is why Eric Garcia could come into the fray.

The former Man City starlet knows the opponent inside out, having spent a season on loan at Girona. He can, therefore, be best suited to operate in the defensive midfield position.

Olmo or Ferran?

Another choice Flick will have to make tomorrow is choosing between Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres in the final third.

While Olmo will be the undisputed choice for many, it must be noted that the Spaniard had picked up a knock during the international break.

While Olmo should be fit enough to start against Girona, Barcelona do have the Champions League opener against AS Monaco in a few days.

Resting Olmo, therefore, can be a good idea, with Torres waiting in the wings.
