According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona remain confident in their pursuit of Djurgardens IF’s 17-year-old midfielder Lucas Bergvall so much so that they expect him to give a go-ahead to the move by today.

Bergvall is someone who the Blaugrana leaders really like. Now, it is to be noted that several top teams across the continent eyed the 17-year-old, but no one made advancement as Barcelona did.

To this date, Barcelona are looked upon as the most plausible destination for the midfielder despite the fact that Tottenham have suddenly emerged as a surprising candidate.

It is reported that the 17-year-old midfielder was seen in London recently, before flying to Barcelona to hold talks with the club.

And, Spurs have been incessantly pushing Bergvall and his entourage to accept their proposal over that of the Catalan giants.

As far as his move to Barcelona is concerned, he did visit the city in Catalonia and checked out their training facilities and camps. His family and agents held talks with sporting director Deco as well.

The belief is that they trust Barcelona’s sports project a lot, but want to look at every little detail before giving the final go-ahead.

Barça remain confident about their chances though and are of the belief that they will get the green light from Bergvall and his camp today.

Furthermore, it is to be noted that Bergvall didn’t play in his team’s pre-season game last Saturday. A move to Tottenham would mean that he will leave Djurgardens immediately before the transfer window slams shut today.

However, Barcelona, on the other hand, are planning to let the 17-year-old continue in Sweden before bringing him on board in the summer.
