Despite their best efforts to portray a rosy financial situation last summer, it was glaringly clear that the club were still neck-deep in crisis.

The Blaugrana, after all, struggled to register their new signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for La Liga despite facilitating departures including Julian Araujo and Ilkay Gundogan and ultimately utilised Andreas Christensen’s long-term injury as a trump card to register Olmo.

The two new signings, however, are only registered until January as it stands and will be de-registered next year unless the club make sufficient space on the wage bill through sales or generation of income.

Players are calm

Despite the uncertainty over their registration, both Victor and Olmo and their entourages remain calm as they are confident the worst will not happen.

As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, club sources have also confirmed that neither star’s registration is in danger and that the club will secure the required investments before the year-end.

The biggest factor enabling their continuity is the sponsorship deal with Nike which is said to be all but closed.

Reports state that a final agreement will be reached this month and will thus bring in a sum of €140 million per season to Barcelona’s coffers.

The injection of funds will not only help the Catalans return to the 1:1 rule but also directly allow the registration of Olmo, Victor and even the likes of Andreas Christensen.

Olmo has made a strong start to life under Hansi Flick, scoring in all three games dressed in the Blaugrana colours. While currently injured, he is expected to return after the international break.

Victor, meanwhile, has had a slower start to life in Catalonia but has impressed with his cameos off the bench.
