Joan Laporta’s fury at the end of Barcelona’s 3-3 draw against Granada was triggered by a combination of multiple factors. However, it is clear that the core of his rage was down to the team’s disappointing result once again.

The Catalans are in dire need of change. A refreshing setup, revamped dressing room, and new ideas will go a long way in the board’s attempt to rebuild the team’s glorious days. Any change, however, will come in the summer after Xavi’s departure.

The dream appointment

As revealed in SPORT‘s latest update, Jurgen Klopp is the club’s dream option to take over this summer. The board really like him and see him as an experienced option who has even won the UEFA Champions League.

The German manager revealed earlier this year that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. He will thus be available to Barcelona as an option, though Klopp has made it clear that he wishes to take a hiatus of at least one year.

Nevertheless, the outlet adds that the Barcelona administrators are convinced that they can convince Klopp to sit down for negotiations and get him to consider taking over the reins from Xavi.

Clarity needed swiftly

Considering that the club is heading for a major revamp in June, Barcelona understand that any managerial appointment must be made well in advance.

After all, any new signings or sales must be in line with the vision the new coach has in store.

The Catalans thus want to end their selection dilemma by the first week of March. The candidates being considered, apart from Klopp, include Thomas Tuchel, Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi and Hansi Flick.

With less than a month left before the club’s self-appointed deadline, it remains to be seen which direction the board turn. If Klopp is the dream, negotiations must begin at the earliest.
