Barcelona’s recent defeat to Atletico Madrid highlighted multiple problems the club are facing, following an exuberant start to the new season.
One of the key takeaways from the defeat was the rather poor performance of star striker Robert Lewandowski, who missed a few opportunities and simply wasn’t as impactful as one would expect.
Barcelona worried about Lewandowski’s performances
In light of the defeat against Atletico, a report from Diario SPORT has offered insights into how Barcelona are assessing the loss.
Interestingly, it appears Barça are growing increasingly worried about Lewandowski’s drop in form, especially when the team plays without the services of Lamine Yamal.
Barcelona were not happy with Lewandowski’s performance against Atleti and have raised alarm over the Pole’s recent displays.

This is a worrying sign for Barça, especially considering the fact that the club are on the verge of renewing the forward’s contract until 2026.
Although both Hansi Flick and the board have immense faith in Lewandowski, the forward’s poor form is concerning as there are no real alternatives available in the team.
The Blaugrana, therefore, expect Lewandowski to react strongly after the recent downturn in performances.
Fortunately, the Pole has some time to reflect upon his recent performances, as Barça do not play until January 4, when they take on Barbastro in the Copa Del Rey.
During this period, the onus will be on the veteran striker to not only regain his peak form but also lead the attack with more precision.
