Robert Lewandowski has been undisputedly one of the best performers for Barcelona this season as they continue their redemption story under new coach Hansi Flick.
The former Bayern Munich forward has racked up as many as 20 goals in just 18 competitive matches this term, emerging as one of the best-performing strikers in Europe’s top five leagues.
Lewandowski’s performances have impressed Barcelona, who are now mulling over a contract extension for the Pole.
Barcelona consider renewal of Lewandowski contract
According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona are considering the renewal of Lewandowski’s contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season.
The Pole has a clause in his contract that will allow Barcelona to extend it for a further year (until 2026). Barça are sure to activate this clause given the forward has performed this term.
But beyond Lewandowski’s contract until 2026, the Catalans are considering renewing for a further year, which could see the veteran forward remain at Camp Nou until 2027.

Therefore, it appears the Blaugrana are using the Pole’s performances as a stopgap, as they look to save funds and recover from the ongoing economic crisis, before spending big on a new striker.
Lewandowski, for his part, is reportedly keen on continuing his spell in Catalonia. The forward, in fact, eyeing a stay up to 2027, which aligns with Barcelona’s objective.
However, it must be noted that the former Dortmund star will become 39 by 2027, meaning the club will have to make a major bet on the player’s fitness if they are to renew the contract of the veteran forward.
