Hector Fort’s performance was one of very few positive takeaways for Barcelona as they slumped to a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo on Saturday.

Fort produced a brilliant display against Vigo, maintaining excellent composure and skill. His performance was an indicator of the player’s remarkable comeback this season.

Hector Fort moves up the ladder

After a slow start to the season, where he was initially overlooked in favour of Gerard Martín and Alex Valle during preseason, Fort’s hard work in training is paying off.

According to Diario SPORT, Hector Fort is steadily climbing the ranks under coach Hansi Flick, establishing himself as a versatile and reliable option for the team.

His recent performance against Celta Vigo at Balaídos may have cemented his position as a key alternative to Alejandro Balde.

Fort’s second-half cameo in Vigo demonstrated his growing confidence and adaptability. Playing on the left flank—a position he explored under Xavi last season—he showcased his defensive solidity and attacking flair.

The youngster won several key duels and even delivered a dangerous cross from the byline. Despite the match ending in a disappointing draw for Barça, Fort’s individual performance was a bright spot.

This was the first time Flick deployed Fort on the left side, a role previously reserved for Gerard Martin as Balde’s backup.

The shift indicates a growing trust in Fort’s versatility, as he can now serve as cover for both Balde and Jules Kounde.

With 333 minutes across eight matches—seven in La Liga and one in the Champions League—Fort’s trajectory is clearly ascending, particularly after starting in the derby against Espanyol earlier this season.
