After Xavi Hernandez announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, the Barcelona board has been on a complete overdrive, in their bid to find an able replacement.

The management has been linked with a move for a series of top managers across Europe, including Jurgen Klopp, who has recently announced his decision to leave Liverpool in the summer.

Klopp, though, is not the only German coach Barcelona are tracking right now.

Barcelona considering move for Hansi Flick

According to Christian Falk, Hansi Flick is among the managers Barcelona are considering, in their bid to replace Xavi next season.

Flick is a long-term target for the Catalan outfit. In fact, Joan Laporta tried a video call to convince Flick to join Barcelona and replace Ronald Koeman.

However, the German opted to reject a move to Catalonia. He stayed put and eventually joined the German national team.

After missing out on Hansi Flick, Barcelona ended up signing Xavi Hernandez in late 2021.

But Barcelona are now back in the market for Flick, who is currently a free agent. The former Bayern Munich coach spent a short stint with the German national team, but he was relieved of his duties in September 2023.

Flick has remained a free agent since. Despite his relatively disastrous spell with Die Mannschaft, the German is rated highly due to his man-management skills.

Flick notably won the treble with Bayern Munich in 2020 and was instrumental in helping the Bavarian retain their dominance in German football.

Given his status as a free agent, it should not be difficult for Barcelona to approach Flick for the second time. However, it will be interesting to see whether the Catalans look to prioritise other options ahead of the German tactician.
