Barcelona may be crippling under their financial circumstances, but they have not allowed the same to affect their future.

The Catalans are sitting on a goldmine of talents for the decades to come, right from Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal to Vitor Roque, Gavi and Pedri.

One young name who is gaining momentum in the academy is the versatile Pau Victor. The player is owned by Girona, but is on loan at Barça Atletic at the moment. It is safe to say that he is already exceeding all expectations in Catalonia.

Striking gold

The 22-year-old striker is capable of playing as a centre-forward, a winger, or a false nine based on the need.

In just 22 games in the 1st RFEF division, Victor sits as Barça Atletic’s top scorer with 14 goals and four assists. Moreover, only De Miguel from a different group in the same division boasts of 15 goals and stands between Victor and the division’s top scorer trophy.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are very impressed by the youngster’s performances and are considering triggering the €3 million purchase clause they have.

After all, he has been called up by Xavi to travel with the first team seven times, although he is yet to make his debut.

The player, for his part, has been knocking on the first-team door and feels ready for the challenge of senior football.

Tough competition

It is clear that Victor is one of the creme-de-la-creme of Barcelona’s mine of resources in the subsidiary team. However, he is up against serious competition if he is to establish himself as a regular in the first team.

If the youngster wishes to succeed in his niche, the centre-forward position, he would have to prove himself superior to the likes of Vitor Roque and Marc Guiu who already have made a name for themselves.

If he continues to develop into a left-winger, however, the youngster could see more opportunities. After all, Barcelona do not have a natural left-winger as it stands and are unlikely to invest in the position in the coming summer.

Before all that though, the Catalans must sign him permanently by triggering the €3 million clause.
