Barcelona are aggressively working towards finalising player exits so that they can register their summer signing Dani Olmo in time for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Athletic Club.

Deals for Ilkay Gundogan and Vitor Roque to part ways from the club have already been secured and now it appears that Mika Faye could be the next one to pack his bags and move on from the club.

Faye close to Rennes transfer

Indeed, according to journalist Daniele Longo, Mika Faye is just one step away from leaving Barcelona for Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.

As per the report, the 20-year-old Senegalese international will be joining the French club on a permanent deal worth €10 million.

In addition, Barcelona will have a buyback option for the centre-back, although the value of that clause has not been specified.

Faye arrived at Barça only last summer in a deal worth around €1.5 million. And an exit for a fee of €10 million would mean a profit of seven times for the club.

The 20-year-old made a big impression last season with Barça Atletic but failed to convince Hansi Flick during pre-season to earn himself a spot in the first-team roster.

Faye also had offers from other clubs like Lille and PSV Eindhoven, but it appears that he has opted to join Rennes instead.

Funds to be reinvested in Chiesa signing

The report from Daniele Longo further states that once Barcelona finalise Faye’s move to Rennes, they will utilise the €10 million proceeds from the operation to sign Federico Chiesa.

The Juventus winger has emerged as the most viable option for the Blaugrana to reinforce their attack.

Manager Hansi Flick has already given his approval for the signing while Chiesa himself is believed to be willing to make the jump.

It is only a matter of generating funds as well creating some room on the salary bill, which Barcelona plan on doing with the departures.
