It was a terrific Thursday for Barcelona, as they advanced to the quarterfinal stage of Copa Del Rey following a 3-1 victory over Unionistas.
Moreover, the Catalans have now emerged as the favourites to win Copa Del Rey following Real Madrid’s elimination at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
On this joyous night, one little worry for Barcelona and their fans was the fitness of Andreas Christensen, after he had to be subbed off just before the half-time whistle.
Christensen’s substitution led to fears that Barcelona might have to deal with yet another casualty on the sidelines.
Just a precaution
However, a report from Diario AS, published shortly after the game, has revealed that Christensen’s injury is not serious at all.
The Danish international was feeling minor discomfort and was taken off by Xavi as a precaution. That is why the coach decided to bring on youngster Pau Cubarsi.

Even though the Dane has not enjoyed the best of seasons, there are whispers that Barcelona may consider him as a potential solution for the number six slot, especially if the club fail to sign a new defensive midfielder in January.
Fit to play against Real Betis
Nevertheless, as far as the fitness of Christensen is concerned, the defender should be available for the upcoming game against Real Betis.
Xavi will also be boosted by the return of Ronald Araujo and Lamine Yamal, who were both suspended ahead of the cup game, while Joao Cancelo is hoping for a return as well.
This could serve as a big boost for Xavi Hernandez, as he looks to help Barcelona build a strong winning momentum, at this crucial juncture of the season.
