With just a week left in the summer transfer window, there is some late drama expected at FC Barcelona in the coming days.

Eric Garcia was involved in one of the deadline-day deals Barça pulled off last year as the defender left the club to join Girona on loan.

A year later, back at the club, the 23-year-old centre-back could again be staring at a late move in the transfer window.

Indeed, as reported already, Girona are interested in signing Eric back, this time on a permanent deal. And given Barcelona’s need to cut their wages, an exit is not ruled out.

Garcia would be ‘delighted’

Now, journalist Victor Navarro reports that Eric Garcia would be ‘delighted’ to join Girona from Barcelona before the transfer window closes.

As mentioned earlier, Barça are still in need of player sales while Girona are eager to bring the Spanish international back – their manager Michel, director Quique Carcel, and president Delfi Geli would jump at the chance to re-sign him.

Garcia, for his part, is aware that he would have a secondary role at Barcelona whereas he would be a regular starter if he returns to Montilivi.

The former La Masia trainee dreams of succeeding with the Blaugrana but understands that there are a number of other players ahead of him in the pecking order.

As such, he would be more than open to moving to Girona, and both clubs will now try to find a formula for his transfer in the coming days.

As reported earlier today, a permanent transfer worth around €15 million could be what the two Catalan rivals settle on in the end, but as things stand, Garcia’s return to Girona seems very much possible.
