Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has been attracting a lot of interest in the transfer market of late, with Bayern Munich, in particular, emerging as serious suitors.
Indeed, the Bavarians were keen on signing the Barça captain this window itself, but with that not being possible, have made him a priority target for the summer.
Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that Manchester United are also interested in the 24-year-old Uruguayan international and have even made enquiries for him.
Deco rules out Araujo sale
Barcelona have always maintained that Araujo is one of the ‘untouchables’ within the squad for whom no offers will be entertained despite the club’s financial situation.
And now, sporting director Deco has reiterated the same stance, claiming that the La Liga champions will not sell the Barça captain.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Deco said: “Bayern want Ronald Araújo? We are not considering selling him. He’s not for sale. He’s one of the key players for Barça future.
“We want him to be happy and this is shown on a day-to-day basis. There’s nothing to talk about.”
Araujo himself has previously come out and stated that he is happy and focused at Barcelona and wishes to achieve more success at the club.
As such, the Blaugrana are working on a new contract proposal for the 24-year-old even though his current deal runs until the summer of 2026.
As for Bayern Munich and Manchester United, they will only be met with disappointment in pursuit of the Barcelona skipper, whose market value stands at €70 million.
