Joshua Kimmich is set to become one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The German international is facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich and with his contract expiring in 2025, the Bavarians could end up offloading him at the end of the season.
Barcelona are among the clubs keen on the services of Kimmich, as the club look to shore up its options in the middle of the mark.

In a recent interaction with German news outlet Die Welf, Kimmich opened up on his future, revealing that he remains calm about the situation and does not rush into things.
“The situation is very clear for me, I still have more than a year left on my contract, that’s why I’m calm,” said Kimmich (h/t Mundo Deportivo), who has had a difficult time working with Thomas Tuchel.
Due to his zen mentality, Tuchel has used him in a series of roles. Kimmich, though, remained content, adding, “I’m fine and I play where the coach considers me most important for the team.
“Currently, I’m trying to interpret it as I always have and positively influence the game with creativity from there.”
Although Tuchel is leaving at the end of the season, Kimmich is clearly not happy at Bayern and that is why he may consider an exit.

“Of course, it is very interesting and important to know who he will be. At the moment it is still not clear who will be our new coach starting in the summer,” explained Kimmich.
Finally, the German international added that he is focusing on the tasks ahead for the ongoing campaign, with Bayern locked in a tense Bundesliga title race with Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern are also set to face Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
“My top priority is to finish the season as successfully as possible, in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. Then comes the European Championship with Germany. These are the important things,” he said.
Where does Barcelona stand?
It is no secret that Barcelona have been monitoring Kimmich’s future for a while. The Catalans see him as an ideal long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets.
However, if Kimmich wants to leave Bayern in the summer, the Bavarians would not think twice about keeping hold of him this summer and let him leave the club for free in 2025.
That makes the job difficult for Barça, as they are not in a position to spend anything close to Bayern Munich’s valuation for the midfielder.
The only solution, therefore, could be to offer one of the star players to Bayern, with the German outfit reportedly interested in a swap deal involving Ronald Araujo.
