Barcelona are in the market this summer to reinforce two key positions – the first a new defensive midfielder and then a left-winger.
The Catalans are looking for a quality winger who can make an immediate impact slotting in on the left flank and have identified some targets for the position, one of whom happens to be Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Napoli and Georgia winger has been brilliant for his club over the past 20 months or so and has landed himself on Barcelona’s radar, with his agent, Mamuka Jugeli, confirming as much not so long ago.
“Barcelona and PSG? Of course, there are offers for Khvicha from top clubs. Look at him! How can there be no offers? In May it will be clearer,” said Jugeli just over a week ago.
Jugeli not ruling out exit
Now, speaking in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Kvaratskhelia’s agent has claimed that while they are in talks with Napoli over a new contract, a summer exit cannot be ruled out if a good offer comes along.
“As for the future, we are talking to Napoli, we will see what happens. He will leave if another club presents an offer that the management cannot refuse. I can’t talk about a concrete amount, these are De Laurentiis’ valuations,” said Jugeli during the interview.
Providing an update on when there could be clarity regarding the winger’s future, he added: “I defend Khvicha’s contract and his work. Everything will be clear at the end of May.”
Kvaradona will not come cheap
Dubbed ‘Kvaradona’ by the Napoli faithful, Kvaratskhelia will not come cheap in the summer as his contract with the Partenopei in 2027. And as his agent mentioned, talks are underway over a possible new contract as well.
And, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is known to extract maximum fees for his assets. So, Barcelona, despite holding an interest in the winger, might be unable to stump up the cash needed due to their financial situation.
