Pedri is one of the lynchpins of this Barcelona outfit under new manager Hansi Flick and has been critical to their excellent start to the 2024/25 season.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been consistently one of the Catalans’ top players in recent years when fit and available and is seen as one of the core members of the team for the present and the future.

As such, Barcelona want to secure Pedri’s future at the club for a long time, considering that his current contract expires in 2026.

Barcelona and Pedri want to continue together for many years

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Pedri, too, wants to continue at Barcelona for a long time and as such work on a contract renewal is already underway.

The report states that both the player and the club are keen on prolonging the partnership for many years to come.

As mentioned earlier, Pedri’s current contract expires in 2026, meaning he would enter the final year of his deal next summer.

Barcelona are eager to avoid such a situation and as such have already begun working on a new contract extension for their midfield maestro – something that sporting director Deco already confirmed earlier this week.

The report adds that there is still a long way to go for an agreement to be struck between the two parties.

But Barcelona have made their intentions clear to Pedri and his entourage, with club president Joan Laporta himself communicating the plans to the player’s family.

Pedri has played each of Barcelona’s four La Liga games this season and has scored a goal. The 21-year-old is seemingly in a very good shape physically, with the special plan implemented to help him prevent injuries working well.
