Bernardo Silva has once again emerged as a hot topic at Barcelona, with the Manchester City attacker likely to be one of the club’s top targets in the coming summer.
With Xavi keen on reinforcing his ranks in the creative department, Silva is seen as one of the players who can significantly improve the team.
Barcelona are also aided by the fact that Silva is reportedly looking for a new challenge elsewhere, having won almost everything at Manchester City.
Bayern Munich enter the chase
However, a recent report from Oriol Domenech (h/t Diario SPORT) has painted a rather grim picture of Barcelona’s pursuit of Bernardo Silva.
The report adds that Barcelona are set to face fresh competition from Bayern Munich in the race to sign the Manchester City forward this summer.
The Bundesliga giants have indeed entered the race to sign Silva, as the club look to shore up its ranks in the creative department.
It appears Bayern are desperate to upgrade their squad this summer after undergoing a poor campaign that saw them surrender the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen.
Bernardo Silva, to that end, is being identified as the ideal reinforcement for the Bavarians, as the Portuguese international can add experience and quality to the table.
Bernardo prefers Barcelona move
Barcelona, however, are not completely down and out. In fact, the Catalans still have a considerable chance of signing Silva this summer, especially if they can return to the 1:1 rule.
That is because Silva’s release clause stands at €58 million, which could be reasonable for Barcelona if they can balance their books.
Moreover, Oriol Domenech adds that Bernardo, for his part, prefers a move to Camp Nou despite the interest from Bayern Munich.
The German giants, though, are in a position to pay €58 million immediately and are even willing to offer Silva a lucrative salary. The ball, therefore, is in Barça’s court as they look to take an important decision in the pursuit of the Portuguese international.
