Barcelona fail to reach a final decision over Xavi’s future today

Barcelona’s internal state at this point in time is truly shambolic.

Just weeks after announcing the continuity of Xavi as the Barcelona manager, Joan Laporta and Co. are reportedly very close to sacking the manager for his honest opinion on the club’s finances.

Moreover, the board and the coach are said to be at war over a number of issues, beginning from their understanding of the financial situation to the recent controversy over Vitor Roque’s incorporation.

The situation, in fact, is so aggravated that the management are already actively looking for replacements with Rafa Marquez, Hansi Flick and Sergio Conceicao all named as potential successors.

The latest update

Reports earlier today revealed that despite the noise in the media, Xavi and his staff had not received any communication that their contract would be terminated immediately.

In fact, Barcelona were said to be holding internal talks over the burning issue with the club’s hierarchy including the president involved in the discussions.

Now, as revealed by Gerard Romero, the club state that there is no final decision today. If nothing changes, moreover, Xavi and Co. could well continue to lead Barcelona for the next match.

Far from settled

The latest update provided by the Jijantes FC journalist does not suggest that everything is settled between the two parties at war.

Barcelona are set to take on Rayo Vallecano at home in just over 48 hours, and the short time frame could provoke the board to delay the announcement should a decision be made.

Given Laporta’s fury towards Xavi and the current situation behind the scenes, it is very likely that the manager is overseeing his final days as the Barcelona coach. In any case, the situation is tense and far from settled.
