Barcelona Femeni have been crowned the champions of Europe as they defeated Olympique Lyon 2-0 in the finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League today at San Mames.
In a season that the men’s team has disappointed, Barça fans continue to glean some joy from the Femeni side as they completed a historic quadruple – the first-ever in the team’s history.
Indeed, Barça Femeni had already wrapped up the Liga F title earlier this month and followed it up with the Copa de la Reina triumph last week.
Having already lifted the Spanish Super Cup in January, Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmati & co. have now added the UEFA Women’s Champions League title to their cabinet as well to complete an unprecedented quadruple.
Aitana Bonmati gave Barça the lead in the 63rd minute before substitute Alexia Putellas added the second in stoppage time to lead the team to their third Champions League title at San Mames.
Congratulations to Jonatan Giraldez and the Barcelona Femeni team on this historic triumph!
