In what could be a huge blow for FC Barcelona, key midfielder and Golden Boy Pedri could miss the La Liga El Clasico against Real Madrid next month.

This claim comes from Javi Miguel of AS, who is reporting that the midfield prodigy will be out for a period of five to six weeks after suffering yet another thigh injury.

Pedri suffered the injury during last night’s 0-0 draw against Athletic Club at San Mames, and had to be taken off just at the cusp of half-time.

The midfielder was in tears on the bench after his substitution, having picked up a similar thigh injury to the two previous ones he had sustained this season.

The danger of surgery was ruled out very early, but the injury still appears to be a serious one for Pedri will be out for more than a month now.

As such, the 21-year-old is expected to miss the matches against RCD Mallorca, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Las Palmas, and Cadiz.

On top of that, his involvement in the last El Clasico of the season, on the weekend of April 20-21, is now uncertain.

This is not good news for Barcelona, who are staring at a crucial run of fixtures both in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

With Frenkie de Jong also ruled out for a period of 4-5 weeks, Xavi Hernandez will have to make do with two of his most important players in the upcoming matches.
