Last night, reports emerged claiming that PSG had trained their sights on Barcelona midfield sensation Gavi as a target for the summer transfer window.
With Kylian Mbappe set to move on in the summer, Les Parisiens are planning for life after the Frenchman’s exit and see a top midfield signing as a priority.
To that end, they have identified Gavi as a possible target, with manager Luis Enrique and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi both being huge admirers of the 19-year-old.
Gavi will not entertain PSG overtures
Now, a fresh report from SPORT has provided an update on the situation surrounding Gavi and the interest from PSG.
The 19-year-old La Masia graduate and his entourage have no idea about the interest from the Ligue 1 champions.
Irrespective of that, the midfielder has absolutely no intentions of leaving Barcelona and will not listen to any offers that might come in the summer, be it from PSG or a different club.
Upon turning 18 in 2022, Gavi signed a long-term contract with the club that runs until 2026 and is protected by a €1 billion release clause.
Currently recovering from an ACL injury, Gavi is out for the season and is fully focused on his rehabilitation. The midfielder wants to help Barcelona achieve success in their next sports project post the Xavi Hernandez era.
Gavi is ‘untouchable’
Even though Barcelona need to make some important sales in the summer, the stance from the club on Gavi is clear: the 19-year-old is not for sale.
In fact, the teenager is seen as one of the three absolute untouchables by sporting director Deco, along with Pedri and Ronald Araujo.
So, there is no question about Gavi’s continuity despite the interest from PSG, who, intriguingly, are also tracking Frenkie de Jong.
