After having had Ibrahim Diarra on trial earlier this year, Barcelona have taken on another talented youngster from Africa on trial in the form of David Oduro, reports SPORT.

Only a few weeks ago, Diarra, a Malian midfielder, was on trial with Barça from the Africa Foot academy. It is widely expected that the teenager will be signed by the Catalans in December, once he turns 18 years old.

Oduro possesses potential

Now the Blaugrana have decided to take a closer look on yet another African talent in the form of Oduro, who hails from Ghana.

Oduro is 17 years old and is a left-back with enormous potential. He plays for Accra Lions in his country and is a permanent fixture in the African Premier League.

Since November, the teenage left-back has been a regular starter for the Ghanaian club and even knows what it is like to score in the top flight.

Oduro recently spent three weeks on trial with Chelsea and is now at Barça showing his potential to the coaches at La Masia. He landed last Friday and is expected to stay for a few more days.

Oduro turns 18 years old on 12 June and can be signed by any club in Europe from this summer onwards. Apart from Barcelona and Chelsea, Bayern Munich are also monitoring him.

Likened to Alphonso Davies

The report states that Oduro’s profile and potential have earned him comparisons with Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.

“In terms of his profile and characteristics, he is reminiscent of Alphonso Davies. Powerful in the duels, born finisher, with a great driving breaking lines…he will surely leave this summer, he needs to make the leap,” Ghanaian scout Vinyl Tong told SPORT.

“At Chelsea they were very happy with him,” he added.
