La Masia gem Lamine Yamal has secured his future with Barcelona, with a report from Mundo Deportivo affirming that the 16-year-old has committed himself to the team until 2030.
It is to be noted that Yamal’s first contract with Barcelona dates back to October last year and knowing the potential of the young forward, the team from Catalonia inserted a clause worth €1000 million.
Since Yamal is still a minor, Barcelona needed to comply with the legal legislation and for that matter, they could only sign him for three seasons.
Yamal wants to make history at Barça
Yamal’s representative, Jorge Mendes, and Barcelona’s management were well aware of the promising talent the young forward possessed.
Thus, recognizing the need for a strategic and gradual commitment, negotiations unfolded in phases to solidify the connection between Yamal and Barcelona until the year 2030.
Acting as Yamal’s representative since the previous season, Mendes collaborated closely with the club in crafting a plan that would come to fruition at the conclusion of the second campaign in 2025.

The understanding is that, following the 2025 season, Yamal will commit to an additional five seasons with the club, extending the partnership until he reaches the age of 24.
This strategic approach not only secures the young talent’s future with Barcelona but also reflects the mutual confidence and foresight shared by both the player and the club.
A talent, indeed
Yamal has arguably been Barcelona’s standout star this season, scoring five goals and seven assists in 35 outings across all competitions.
Despite competing with senior figures like Raphinha in the team, the 16-year-old forward has slowly made the first team spot his own, starting in 13 of his 25 La Liga matches. For what it is worth, Yamal has been Xavi’s preferred choice ever since the manager lost Raphinha to injury.
As a result, the 16-year-old has gone on to start in each of his last eight matches across all competitions and considering his form, it is likely that Raphinha might have to take the backseat.
